Samantha's Experience

Three pregnancies after a PCOS diagnosis

When I needed to conceive my first child, I was terrified. I had PCOS, irregular periods, and had been told I would struggle to fall pregnant. I decided to use naturopathy to prepare my body — and within two months, I fell pregnant. I went on to have three successful pregnancies, regulating my own cycle along the way. This experience drives my passion for helping other women on their fertility journey.

How naturopathy supports fertility

Naturopathic preconception care is about optimising your body for conception and a healthy pregnancy. Rather than waiting until problems arise, naturopathy works to create the best possible conditions for conception by addressing underlying imbalances before you start trying.

Whether you are just starting to think about having a family, have been trying for some time, or are preparing for assisted reproduction, naturopathy can support your journey.

Preconception care

Ideally, preconception preparation begins three to six months before trying to conceive. This allows time to address nutritional deficiencies, balance hormones, regulate your cycle, improve egg quality, and reduce inflammation. I assess your diet, lifestyle, stress levels, and any existing health conditions to build a comprehensive preconception plan.

Cycle regulation

Regular ovulation is fundamental to natural conception. If your cycles are irregular, absent, or very long, naturopathic treatment can help restore a healthy menstrual pattern through herbal medicine, nutritional support, and lifestyle modification. This is particularly important for women with PCOS, where irregular ovulation is a primary barrier to conception.

Hormonal balance

Hormonal imbalances — including low progesterone, elevated androgens, thyroid dysfunction, and estrogen dominance — can all affect fertility. I work to identify and address the specific hormonal drivers in your case, using targeted herbs and nutrients to restore balance.

Pregnancy wellness

Once you conceive, naturopathy can support a healthy pregnancy through appropriate nutrition, safe herbal support for common pregnancy symptoms, and guidance on supplements. I work alongside your obstetrician or midwife to ensure coordinated care throughout your pregnancy.

Supporting your partner

Fertility is not just a women's issue. Male factor contributes to around one-third of all fertility challenges. I can provide nutritional and lifestyle guidance for your partner to optimise sperm health, energy, and overall wellbeing during the preconception period.

When to see a fertility naturopath

You don't need to wait until you're struggling to conceive. Naturopathic preconception care is beneficial at any stage — whether you're planning ahead, have been trying for a few months, or are navigating a more complex fertility journey. The earlier you start, the more time your body has to respond to treatment.

If you have PCOS, endometriosis, irregular cycles, a history of hormonal imbalance, or simply want to give your body the best possible preparation, I'd encourage you to get in touch.

Fertility and PCOS

PCOS is one of the most common causes of difficulty conceiving due to its impact on ovulation. But a PCOS diagnosis does not mean pregnancy is out of reach. With the right naturopathic support, many women with PCOS go on to conceive naturally. My own story is proof of that.
